Syracuse gets post prospect

Chinonso Obokoh

Chinonso Obokoh took his list of schools from five to one on Monday. He'll play his college basketball at Syracuse.

Syracuse picked up their second commitment of the 2013 class on Monday.

Chinonso Obokoh, a 6-foot-9, 205-pound post prospect of Rochester (N.Y.) Bishop Kearney, committed to Jim Boeheim and his staff shortly after visiting the school this past weekend.

Obokoh's mentor Kevan Sheppard confirmed the news to Scout.com.

"The opportunity to play for Jim Boeheim's legendary program and be developed by Mike Hopkins was something he couldn't pass up," Sheppard told Scout.com.

In early October, Obokoh, a three-star recruit, cut his list of schools to Syracuse, James Madison, Villanova, Temple and Texas. According to Sheppard, Obokoh was able to narrow it to one because of Syracuse's business school.

"He was well aware of what SU offered as far as basketball," Sheppard said. "The Whitman school of business blew him away."

"His recruitment was always going to come down to the best business program," Sheppard added. "Dr. Tankersley associate dean of the Whitman School sealed the deal."

Obokoh joins five-star point guard Tyler Ennis to make up Syracuse's current 2013 recruiting class.
